Emergency Services
When an emergency arises, it's comforting to know that world-class care is right around the corner. Florida Hospital Kissimmee is expanding and renovating its Emergency Department (ED) to provide the community the most convenient and comforting experience. Our highly skilled emergency physicians and staff will assure that you receive the highest quality care and connect you to the broad array of services that Florida Hospital offers throughout Central Florida.
What to expect during your Emergency Department visit:
Upon arriving, the first thing you can expect is to be evaluated by an ED Registered Nurse (RN). This "primary" Triage process is a quick assessment of your medical condition, and determines which patients must be taken back to the treatment area immediately.
A "secondary" Triage RN will then provide a more in-depth evaluation to decide which area within the ED your illness or injury could best be addressed, the order of seriousness and the order in which you are seen. Your illness or injury will be classified as either: emergent, urgent or non-urgent.
Emergent Patients include those who have life-threatening conditions or require immediate medical attention. For these patients, a time delay could be life-threatening. Emergency patients are taken immediately to the treatment area and often arrive through the ambulance entrance. For these cases, time is often of the essence.
Urgent Patients require medical attention within a period of a few hours before they face further injury or infection if they are not treated. These patients are brought to the treatment area in order of their arrival, after the resuscitative/emergent patients.
Non-urgent Patients have relatively mild conditions, or may not require immediate attention. These conditions can include the flu, sore throat, fever and other non-urgent conditions. Many times, patients visit the ED in the evenings or weekends when their physician's offices are closed. These patients are seen in the order of their arrival after the more emergent and urgent patients and may encounter longer wait times.
For non-urgent patients, Centra Care is an available option of treatment. There are two convenient locations near Florida Hospital Kissimmee: Hunter's Creek Centra Care (3293 Greenwald Way North, Kissimmee, FL) and Kissimmee Centra Care (4320 West Vine Street (US 192), Kissimmee, FL).
